Rumors on Alcatel 2

Here is some teaser about the upcoming Alcatel Flash 2.

After the very successful Alcatel Flash Plus, the company is set to introduce its successor – the Alcatel Flash 2.

The teaser image below reveals very few details about the smartphone. There’s a 5-inch display and a tagline that says “The Power of Green”.

Here’s the First Alcatel Flash 2 Teaser:

The tagline can mean that the Alcatel Flash 2 uses environmentally friendly materials or it can simply refer to the phone’s color.

Curiously, there are four buttons that can be seen on the left side of the phone’s silhouette. The third one at the bottom might be a dedicated camera button or a finger print sensor.

The event will be livestreamed at the company’s website on September 22. We’ll know its full specifications then.

Nokia 215

Nokia together with Microsoft

Nokia is back on the business. With their newly launch phone together with Microsoft, this will make a good comeback for Nokia. Simple phone yet very usable even if its not a smartphone, you can still access on the net like facebook and twitter.

Microsoft and their newly acquired Nokia team is not going to let feature phone die, yet! They believe that there is still a strong market for phones that allow you to call, give amazing battery life without any smartphone gizmos. It is true to a good extent and when you bundle good internet feature with it, it might become the best seller in many regions.
The concept has been strongly applied with the newly launched Nokia 215 and the dual SIM variant of the same phone. The phone allows users to access internet even though it is a feature phone and the pricing is as low as Rs. 1,500 when it launches in India.
It comes bundled with Opera mini browser that allows users to go online and get the basic internet features. Besides, there’s also some social networking apps bundled with it which includes Facebook, Twitter and you can even get to use Bing Search, MSN weather report in this tiny budget friendly phone.
On the specifications front, the Nokia 215 features a 2.4-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. It doesn’t have 3G yet the 2G combined with EDGE should offer enough speed for users to download content, browse the web, according to the company. The phone also supports Bluetooth and has SLAM feature for file transfer.
It has FM radio and the 1,100 mAh battery promises up to 50 hours of music which is seriously massive, making it a portable music player if you please. It has micro SD card support for 32 GB expansion and can manage 20 hours of talktime. The battery allows 29 days of standby and that’s not hours, but an entire month.
The phone has a 0.3 megapixel camera and an LED which doubles as a flashlight. It’s one amazing feature phone, without a doubt which might make the buyers in India easily opt for it as a secondary backup device.

Upcoming MY31

MY31 Complete specs and price

Earlier today, MyPhone teased that they’re coming up with a new octa-core smartphone for the masses. Well, that phone is the MY 31, and is apparently a new product line from the pinoy company, complimenting the Rio and Infinity lineup that they already have.
The return of MyPhone’s signature features has begun with the MyPhone My31 smartphone. It has the Philippine map at the back and comes pre-loaded with Pinoy Content App.

These two features separated MyPhone from other brands until the launch of the MyPhone Iceberg in 2013. “Yan ang MyPhone! Tatak Pinoy, Tatak Matibay!” says the company’s promotional poster.

The MyPhone My31 supports Pinoy Content Version 3 which includes more than a hundred prayers in audio format such as the rosary, novenas and even religious songs. It also has a bible, trivia about the Philippines and its history as well as recipes.

When it comes to specs, the my31 doesn’t really offer anything too mind-blowing, as it comes with a 1.4GHz octa-core processor, 5-inch HD display, 1GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel rear camera. There’s no LTE on board, and the device uses a non-removable battery. There’s a physical reset button on the back though that’ll help you if you run into trouble. The phone also brings back the PH map that the company took out in previous devices. Its specs sheet lists a 5-inch HD display8MP camera at the back and a 2MP camera on the front. No scratch resistance has been mentioned though.

1.4GHz octa core processor from MediaTek with 1GB of RAM runs the show with Android 4.4 Kitkat as the operating system. Again, there’s no mention of a Lollipop update but we’re optimistic.

The MyPhone My31 is a dual SIM smartphone with 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Assisted GPS and FM Radio – all the usual stuff.

There’s 8GB of on-board storage, a microSD card slot for expansion, USB OTG and a2500mAh battery that should be enough for a whole day of use.

It has an official suggested retail price of ₱4,999.00. An app called Pinoy Content is pre-installed in the phone but the microSD card with the Pinoy Content Version3 is sold separately.

Android 6.0 Officially Named!

Rumors will all be finally be over, because Google has finally revealed the official name of the next version of Android. It’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow! Sorry muffin, milkshake and mango shake...

Marshmallow includes built-in support for finger print sensors, USB Type-C and power bank function. It also introduces Permissions control for apps, Doze power saver mode and lesser consumption of RAM.

Developers can now download the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Developer Preview for the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. They have to make sure that their apps are compatible with Marshmallow.

Expect more apps to use finger print as an authentication method. You can also prevent apps from accessing the internet or your phone's camera by managing its individual permissions. This will give headaches to developers since disabling one permission might render their apps unstable.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow might be officially launched to the general public by next month, September. We are also expecting a new Nexus smartphone to go along with it. By November, flagship smartphones should already have Marshmallow update.

Samsung Galaxy V plus availability in the Philippines

Another model form Samsung has been already lurking on the market. Samsung Galaxy V Plus. Today Filipinos will have another samrtphone to try on. Its also an affordable phone so many Filipinos could afford this Samsun Smartphone.

However, potential buyers should be very careful when choosing this phone. Yes, it seems affordable but it also has several disadvantages.

The Samsung Galaxy V Plus boasts its dual camera feature but having a back and front camera is already very common. Its rear camera doesn’t even have autofocus and its resolution is only 3.15MP!

It runs on a dual core processor but with merely 512MB of RAM. While its TouchWiz user interface may be smooth enough, heavy games will surely be laggy.

Its screen is a 4.0-inch TFT panel with 480 x 800 pixels. This resolution is sufficient with the screen size but the TFT technology used results in faded screen color when the device is tilted.

One selling point of the Samsung Galaxy V Plus that we agree with is its 3G connectivity. It also has two SIM card slots.

There’s 4GB of built-in storage with 1.9GB useable, support for up to 64GB microSD cardsand a 1,500mAh Lithium-ion battery.

However, the presence of a lot of smartphones at the same price with way better specs makes it look overpriced.

Samsung Galaxy V Plus Specifications

  • 4.0-Inch TFT Display (480 x 800 Pixels, 233 ppi)
  • Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS with TouchWiz
  • 1.2GHz Dual Core Processor
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 3.15 Megapixel FF Main Camera with LED Flash
  • VGA Front Camera
  • 4GB Internal Storage
  • Expandable Up to 64GB via MicroSD
  • Dual SIM (Micro + Micro)
  • 3G HSPA, 2G EDGE and GPRS Networks
  • Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Hotspot
  • Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP
  • A-GPS with GLONASS
  • FM Radio
  • MicroUSB 2.0
  • 3.5mm Audio Jack
